Refraction is a magazine built for inspired storytelling, a laboratory dedicated to new ideas, and a forum where diverse viewpoints can spark a more just and imaginative future.

Launching Spring 2018, Refraction will work across subjects and mediums to feature essays and art, poetry and photography, films, podcasts, music and more.

To promote equity, inclusion, and diversity, we seek writers, artists, and creative contributors of any race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, creed, national or ethnic origin, citizenship status, age, or disability. We're ready for your ideas, your works in progress, your sketches for stories you want to tell and questions you want to ask.

With energy and daring, Refraction's contributors will connect their own deepest concerns with collective struggles for justice and dignity. We seek to recover a politics inspired by the fierce urgency of life and a democratic spirit motivated by the expansive questions of who we are, how we got here, and where we are going together.
