It’s that day of the year again. Our holiday, the surfers’ holiday: International Surfing Day. It’s a day of wave commemoration, remembrance of past epic seshes, and, through beach clean up, a way to protect our environment and ensure more days of epicosity and natural beauty. Oh yeah, it’s a day to go surfing, too.
Lucky for us, it looks like we may just get a little bit of wind chop, even if it is during heavy rains. Who cares? You’re wet anyway, right? And we haven’t had a decent bit of wave action in so long, it will be nice excuse to call in sick to work. Which, coincidently, is exactly what Surfrider Foundation CEO Jim Moriarty is hoping you’ll do. Not just you, but every surfer in the world. And that’s why he’s giving official, written, and signed permission to call in sick tomorrow. So print out his letter, follow the instructions, and get out there!
ALSO!!! Don’t forget that Surfrider is hosting beach clean-up events at Clark St. in Palm Beach (with event scheduled at Longboards Restaurant downtown) and Jensen Beach for those wanting to head north beyond the Bahamas’ Shadow.
